Vanessa Rousso

Vanessa "Lady Maverick" Rousso is a picture of intelligence, beauty, and poker skill. An honors graduate of Duke University, Rousso has spent the past year splitting her time between studying law at the University of Miami and tearing up the poker tournament circuit.

Rousso has been playing poker since she was five years old. Most people started to take notice of the young phenomenon when she started final tabling tournaments on the World Series of Poker and World Poker Tour circuits. At age 22, she became the youngest woman to ever make a final table in a WSOP event.

While her name was becoming familiar to many people, the entire poker world stood up and took notice when Rousso made a storybook run at the 2006 World Poker Tour Championship. Rousso was well on her way to making the televised final table when she suffered a bad beat and went out in seventh place, earning more than $260,000.

Rousso was born in White Plains, New York and has dual citizenship in the U.S.A. and France. She speaks three languages and spends what little free time she has studying game theory and enjoying skydiving and aviation.
