Lee Nelson

2006 Aussie Millions Poker Champion
A poker player since age five, Lee "Final Table" Nelson has spent years living up to his nickname. Lee has nearly 50 final table appearances at big poker events from around the world. Born in the United States and now living in New Zealand, Lee Nelson travels the world in search of as many final tables as he can find.

Poker Activities and Hobbies

In addition to playing poker, Lee "Final Table" Nelson stays busy with poker-related activities outside of the game. Now, he represents Team PokerStars in live tournaments and online at PokerStars.com.

Nelson recently co-authored a book with Blair Rodman titled "Kill Phil: The Fast Track to Success in No-Limit Hold'em Poker Tournaments." It already has multiple printings in the United States. The book has received terrific reviews. One review in particular made Nelson very proud. Mason Malmuth, one of the kings of poker books, offered a very favorable review for "Kill Phil." Chief among the book's multiple topics is a lesson to novice players on how to play poker tournaments against professionals.

Lee Nelson is also the poker expert co-host of the Australian TV show Joker Poker. Joker Poker is a series shown on Australian television that pits comedians against each other in high stakes poker games. Comedians compete in each episode to win money for their favorite charity.

When "Final Table" is not spending time in the poker world, he enjoys meditating, weight-training, walking, and swimming.

2006 Aussie Millions Poker Championship

Nelson is a regular on the Australasian poker tournament circuit, having won Pot Limit/No Limit Speed Poker and the Seven Card stud events at the 2005 Crown Australian Poker Championship. His biggest win to date was at the 2006 Aussie Millions Poker Championship where he made five final tables (yes that's right, five final tables!) and won the main event for an impressive $1.43 million.

Lee bested a field of 417 players that included a large list of pros. The competition is the largest poker tournament staged outside the United States.

When the action became heads up, Nelson faced off against American Robert Neary. In the final hand, Nelson held a J-5 of clubs against Neary's 2-4 of clubs. The cards on the table gave both players a flush. Neary went all-in and "Final Table" won with the higher flush. The win came on Nelson's 63rd birthday.
