Dario Minieri
Dario Minieri is among Italy’s best known poker players following a lightning-quick rise to the top. At age 16, he discovered the card game Magic: The Gathering and soon discovered he was well-suited to become a champion. Minieri’s parents were not exceptionally wealthy, but his skill at Magic allowed him to travel far and wide playing the popular game. It was during one his many journeys to a Magic tournament, that a friend introduced Minieri to PokerStars. Soon, the young Italian would find a whole new passion and a much better way to travel the world.
He started off at the age of 18 playing low-stakes heads-up games. Before long, he was on his way to being known as one of the PokerStars legends. With an insatiable appetite for poker, Minieri was the first PokerStars player to earn a Porsche with his Frequent Player Points. Over the course of just a couple of years, Minieri had transformed himself from a professional Magic player to one of PokerStars most recognized – and respected - competitors.
His success online translated across to live tournaments. In 2006, Minieri took third place in the European Poker Tour event in Baden, Austria. In 2007, he shined at the 2007 World Series, making it into the top 100 players. In just a couple years of playing, Minieri has earned $300,000 in live tournament winnings to supplement his online poker income. Now a member of Team PokerStars, Minieri is playing in more and more live tournaments and working toward buying an Aston Martin with the Frequent Player Points he is now accumulating.
